Our current project is THE INVOICE: Settling the Debt with Black America
THE INVOICE is a non-fiction video streaming series about the relationship between Black and White Americans – the money part.
In eight 45-minute episodes, THE INVOICE presents a detailed look at the American government’s treatment of Black Americans, bringing to light information that has not been widely heard, discussed, or taught in schools. Viewers will gain a clear understanding of how the extraction of Black assets, opportunities, health, and dignity became a prevailing theme of American life.
THE INVOICE enlists historians, educators, and economists to break down this figure, showing how much wealth was extracted from Black Americans sequentially through slavery, legal segregation, red lining, mass incarceration, and ongoing discrimination in nearly all areas of life.
THE INVOICE gathers us around a virtual campfire with extraordinary people – scholars, teachers, authors, actors, musicians, and comedians. Every episode weaves together up to eight different elements: interview bites, narration, historical images, animation, comedy, music, and dramatizations. The goal is to provoke, disarm, entertain, and inspire viewers.
With this rich, intelligent appraisal of America’s fundamental flaw, THE INVOICE can bring forward the language, strategies, and visions for closing the racial wealth gap through reparations within five years.
